The Shropshire Historic Churches Trust (SHCT) is a registered charity (No 1010690) and its officials and helpers are all unpaid volunteers.  The purpose of the SHCT is to:

  • Raise funds to assist congregations of all denominations to repair and maintain their historic buildings.

  • Provide grants to help bridge the gap between money raised from within the local community and the cost of repair work.

  • Encourage interest in the heritage of our churches, appealing to all those who recognise the unique contribution that churches make to our English countryside and landscape.

Constitution

The SHCT was set up by a Declaration of Trust dated 12th November 1991, 'having no fewer than four or twenty-five trustees'.  There are currently ten, who meet quarterly to consider grant applications from churches and chapels throughout Shropshire.  Trustees serve for five years but are eligible for re-election.  New trustees are appointed by resolution at a meeting of SHCT Trustees.
